500+ Career Wins.
30+ Years Developing Players.
A Lifetime Developing Student-Athletes.
For more than three decades, John Sheppard has coached, taught, mentored and developed student-athletes at Morristown Beard School in Morristown, New Jersey.
A former Division I baseball player at the University of North Carolina and Seton Hall University, Sheppard has built a career that extends far beyond the dugout — as a championship baseball coach, educator, athletic administrator, advisor and mentor.
Today, that combination of baseball and educational experience helps shape the player-development philosophy behind RS Recruiting.

Behind RS Recruiting.
Long before Robinson & Sheppard became RS Recruiting, Marteese Robinson and John Sheppard were teammates at Seton Hall.
Their baseball journeys would eventually take them in different directions. Robinson moved from elite college baseball into professional baseball, scouting and professional talent evaluation. Sheppard moved into coaching, education, program building and decades of player development.
Years later, those two perspectives came back together.

More Than Baseball
Leadership That Extended
Beyond The Baseball Field.
John's contribution to Morristown Beard athletics reached beyond the baseball program. As Director of Athletics, he helped expand opportunities for student-athletes across the school.
Sheppard also helped launch Morristown Beard's girls' [sport pending verification] program.
Source review: newly supplied material describes this as girls' field hockey, while earlier material referenced girls' ice hockey. The sport will be confirmed against official Morristown Beard records before publication — no selection has been made automatically.
Student-Athlete Development
The Student

John's coaching philosophy has always extended beyond batting averages, earned run averages and wins.

The Sheppard Baseball Legacy
Baseball Runs
Deep In The Family.
John is the son of legendary Seton Hall baseball coach Mike Sheppard Sr., who coached Seton Hall for 31 seasons and accumulated nearly 1,000 victories. John's brothers also built significant coaching careers.
Those accomplishments belong to them — not to John. They do, however, describe the baseball environment and coaching tradition that shaped his understanding of the game.
Developing College Players
The Next Level
Starts With Development.
Players from the program have gone on to compete collegiately.
Development, academic accountability and competitive preparation are what the program focuses on — the collegiate opportunities follow from the student-athletes' own work.
Individual college destinations are not listed here. A verified list can be added once approved school data is supplied for publication.
Why John's Experience Matters
He Has Spent Decades
Watching Players Develop.
Recruiting isn't simply about identifying where a player is today. It's also about understanding where that player may be able to go.
For more than three decades, John Sheppard has watched high-school players grow physically, technically, academically and mentally.
He understands the difference between potential and production.
He understands development.
He understands how quickly a player's trajectory can change.
He understands that the right college fit is different for every student-athlete.
That perspective forms an important part of the RS Recruiting evaluation process.
